Inflation

So, you have sh*t in storage just sitting there. I've have sh*t set up and playing the hell out of it. Out of curiosity, I decided to see how inflation plays into all this. My Sansui SP2500 speakers (2 pairs purchased in mint condition) retailed for $460 a pair in 1976. Adjusted for inflation that comes to $1,665.07 a pair, for a total of $3,330.14. That makes me a "S-T-E-R-E-O-P-H-I-L-E"

budget phono pre-amp

I need some advice about a budget phono pre-amp. I am currently considering the NAD PP-2 and the Cambridge Audio Azur 640p. Associated gear includes a Rega P1 (with glass platter upgrade), an Ortofon OM5e cartridge, a NAD C372 integrated amp, and a pair of Magneplanar MMG's. Any advice or insights would be appreciated.

Need Advice for New Digital Set up

I am a college student who is just recently getting interested in hi-fi audio equipment. I dont have a job at the moment, so I am on a very tight budget. I need help finding a system that will sound great for less than $500. Is this possible? I plan on playing Apple Lossless music out of my PowerBook G4. At the moment, I am just looking for a way to play music through some bookshelf speakers at my desk. Im sure this would require an amplifier, and probably a receiver. If I could get a USB connected DAC, that would be great, but I dont think that will happen with my budget.

connecters and speaker cable

I'm very confused with all the connectors and cables for action on audiogon. Why are they being let go for one or two hundred $'s if they retail for up to a thousand.I run a Bryston with Cornwalls and use $75 braided connectors and large gauge copper speaker cable.I listen to mostly R&R.Would there be a big difference in improvement with some of these high price upgrades. Thanks for any help!
