I'd like to get into vinyl but am kind of intimidated. Don't even know where to begin! So far, I have my 1st system set: Plinius 8150, Harbeth Super HL5, Cambridge Audio 840C & SB3 as source. Then I remembered that my dad has a whole bunch of LPs back at my house in California which don't see the light of day, i.e. Caruso, out-of-print piano LP's (Really young Horowitz, Dmitri Sguoros playing Liszt, etc etc...) and started getting an idea that I should add a turntable to my system.
Hey everyone in new york or who can get to new york this weekend. I recommend going to the Brazilian Guitar Festival on Sunday the 27th. It has an amazing line-up.
Its hosted by the Assad brothers who always play a beautiful show. Badi Assad, their sister. And virtuoso Roland Dyens will also be there giving his own personal flare to classical guitar.
Hi,
I would like to hear if anybody has experience with using a Class D power amp with a tube preamp?
I'm attracted to the low power consumption and small size of Class D as well as the reportedly authoritative sound. However, I'm worried that I won't like the unforgiving sound that a lot of reviewers seem to experience with Class D, and I wondered whether a good tube preamp would be sufficent to soften the sound?
Thanks,
Jens
I'm considering the purchase of a relatively inexpensive turntable... Numark brand... should I spend extra on the direct drive version?
Charles.
