Hi
Anyone still using these older KEF reference speakers, they seem to be pretty common on ebay/audiogon in good condition for $500-700. They were like $3,000 15 years ago so im just curious if they are a potential bargin. They do seem to be well put together and the british sound of that era was a lot warmer and more detailed, it does seem as if hifi has got harder sounding over the last 10 years.
Anyone got any first hand experiences ?
Alan
So recently I aged a year and received an amazing present of my dad's old Linn Katan speakers. Considering that speakers were going to be my next upgrade and were going to blow my entire budget I think it's time to start down the long horrible/wonderful road of swapping out the amp. I've had my Linn Classik for around 6 years now and I love it, but after listening around to other gear I've reached the point where looking for more.
I'd like to buy a surround sound receiver, but I don't want to have to swap speakers between the surround system and my tube amplifier for the front two channels. Therefore, I'm in the market for a surround receiver that has preamp outputs for the left and right stereo channels. Everything else can run off the receiver.
Required:
At least two SPDIF optical inputs required
Preamp outputs for front left, front right, and subwoofer required
Well, IMO most rocks albums actually are a little deficient in , well ROCKIN', unfortunately due to over production and poor mixing, among other issues. Not all of course, but many a great album with true rock energy doesnt sound nearly as solid or dynamic as it could. And no, it ain't my system, 'cause I have rock, jazz and classical that have huge dynamic ranges and plenty of kick.
