The New York Times is a piece of shit no different than daytime talk radio. I wish they would pass a so-called Fairness act so they will have to shut everybody up including that waste of money called NPR. Be careful what we wish oh cult of personality. Idiots. Meet the new boss same as the old boss.
Hey All,
I'm new to the Stereophile crowd, but I think I've found something new to be obsessed with! My girlfriend recently bought me a turntable as a gift. After playing around with this for about 6 months (uh-oh), I'm pretty certain that I should be getting significantly better sound than I am; especially considering I have a good amount of brand new vinyl.
Someone (Elk?) mentioned not getting "imaging" in a live performance like one can in some stereo recordings. I was going to agree but I came home tonight from listening to a live Balinese gamelan performance. It was all acoustic - no amplification - and involved 16-17 musicians (not counting the dancers). Loud as hell! The musicians were spread across about 30 feet of stage. I was in row F, maybe 30 feet from stage. I admit that usually when I hear all acoustic music, it is usually a solo performer or small group (rarely orchestras).
