The Oyaide Caper: All's Well that Ends Well

The Oyaide Caper: All's Well that Ends Well

As reported on this website on December 9, Joseph Cohen of the Lotus Group, exclusive distributor of Oyaide products in North America, discovered that Chris Johnson of Parts ConneXion was selling counterfeit Oyaide AC plugs at regular Oyaide prices. Given that Johnson had previously signed a contract with the Lotus Group to distribute genuine Oyaide plugs, Cohen immediately attempted to reach Johnson to resolve the matter.

how much could u get from a 240V_20A AC line?

Forums

As far as I know Power amps consume a lot of power and u really need to feed them their diet to get the best out of them, but interestingly many of the manufacturers don't provide that info on their brochures, so It makes me wonder just how many people end up buying components they wont be able to feed properly and the reviewers also omit this in their reviews.so I've made a rule of thumb that class A amps consume about 4 times as their output power where as class AB will need about half as that.So the 4800 Watts of my Ac line if only dedicated to my power amps, would feed about 1200 watts o

Fantastic Manufacturer Back Up

Somehow the join in my VPI turntable belt managed to slip it's glue join after 5 years or so of use. Having failed to get the Australian VPI importer to answer any of my emails about a replacement I emailed VPI in the US. I received an immediate answer with the offer to mail me a new belt free of charge.
It arrived one week later and turns out to sound way better than the stiffer original one. I don't want to start a debate here about why that may be the case but the new belt is thinner and a lot more elastic than the original.

Anyone else love listening to movie soundtracks?

As a young composer with a dream of getting into film scoring I spend a lot of time listening to movie soundtracks.

There is one thing that really bothers me about scores though... After listening to the Soundtrack I have such a strong urge to watch the movie. Its like I can't even control it. Right now I am listening to The Lord of The Rings - Fellowship of the Ring - Howard Shore. Ive already convinced myself that right after I submit this post I am going to go grab the movie and watch it all the way through

Building a Custom Component Cabinet

Hey Guys,

I just finished purchasing all of the components for my first stereo system. Now that I have everything together my Dad and I are going to build a nice cabinet to put everything in.

Here is the order that I want to use.
(Top to Bottom)

1. Turntable (Will sit on top of the cabinet)
2. SACD/DVD-A Player
3. Cassette Deck
4. Tuner
5. Preamplifier
6. Power Amplifier
7. Power Conditioner

-The Cabinet itself will have solid side walls, possible open back, possible glass door(s)

Berg Violin Concerto (question for Art Dudley, and others)

I'm looking for recommendations for recordings of the Berg Violin Concerto. (I know this is one of Art Dudley's favorite pieces, thus the shout-out in the subject) I have the Perlman/Ozawa one, and it just doesn't grab me. The recording is typically bad 1970s DG, and Perlman doesn't sound like he actually likes the piece of music (Both Ozawa and Perlman sound much better on the other piece/flip side, which is Stravinsky's violin concerto).

Need some slow, "pretty" nighttime music for wind-down time

I have hundreds of CDs, but nothing that is really good for putting the baby(ies, we have another daughter en route) in a relaxed mood. probably the closest thing I have to that is Getz/Gilberto... I am looking for top notch sounding "relax" "low tempo" music... can be orchestral, choral, chamber, whatever, the requirements:

down tempo, relaxing, condusive to baby "winddown" mode, great sounding....not too loud...

what do yall listen to for this purpose? the more titles and info the better!

Dankuvel
