Etta Gonna Kick Yo Ass

Etta Gonna Kick Yo Ass

The mini–dustup over Etta James saying she “can’t stand” Beyonce and was gonna “whip” or “whoop” her ass is a hoot. First of all, Etta’s legacy is in no danger. No one will ever top her rendition of “At Last.” That performance, her greatest single track, is in no danger of being superseded.

Robert Deutsch's article "Are You a Sharpener or a Leveler".

I have just received my copy of the February 2009 issue of Stereophile and read Robert Deutsch's As We See It "Are You a Sharpener or a Leveler" article ! - which has been generating quite a lively discussion (as Robert points out) :-
>>> "There are some nuances and complexities that I was not able to cover in a 500-word article, but I'm satisfied that the basics are there to stimulate discussion--which at least the article appears to have done." <<<

Parasound Halo P7

Having read Kal's review of the Parasound Halo P7, I'm wondering if my interpretation is correct:

Essentially the P7 is a really good $2K preamp with the added benefit of 7 channel inputs... rather than being just a very specialized product (with limited market appeal)...

(the other option that I assumed when I initially heard about the P7 was that it would just be a P3 with multi-channel inputs)

So in case all that was not clear:

If I was in the market for a $2K preamp (but didn't need multi-channel inputs) should I seriously consider the Parasound?

Absorption panel or Diffusor?

Hi, i am new to this forum, english is not my native language, please bear with me.

What's to be placed at the first reflection point of side walls? Absorption panel or Diffusor?

My listening room is rather small (10.5' width x 14' length x 10' height), currently bookshelves (diffusor) are placed at first reflection point of side walls, will absorption panel playing greater role in sound improvement over the bookshelves?

Thanks in advance

Feeding a Creek Destiny Integrated Amp with a Grace m902 DAC Pre-Amp ?

I am wondering if I can feed a Creek Destiny Integrated Amp with a Grace m902 DAC Pre-Amp, because the m902 IS a Pre-Amp, and the Destiny also has a Pre-Amp...
Would this cause any harm in the quality of the resulting sound?

Thanks...

Have you ever bought an album just for the cover? How did it turn out?

Everyone knows not to judge an album by its cover. But sometimes we can't resist the visual allure created to tempt the unwary shopper. Have you ever bought an album just for the cover? How did it turn out?

Once Telarc, Now Five/Four

Once Telarc, Now Five/Four

Three years ago, as the shift to downloadable media gathered momentum, Concord Music Group purchased Telarc International. The suspicion of those who then saw the handwriting on the wall were confirmed this past December, when a company-wide restructuring by CMG included the layoffs of 27 Telarc employees. Among those now on their own are the entire Telarc Production Department, as well as former classical publicist Amanda Sweet.
