Ethan Iverson & "Tootie" Heath!

Ethan Iverson & "Tootie" Heath!

It’s rare that a live concert captures the mind-bending joy of mainstream post-War jazz. (Recitals of the bebop repertory tend toward the worshipfully literal, like museum pieces.) But just such a rare experience was had last night at Smalls, the convivial (and, yes, small) jazz club in the West Village, where pianist Ethan Iverson played standards with a trio that featured Albert “Tootie” Heath on drums.

Coupling LEAK TL/25 with what speaker?? opinion plz

Hi all, my name is ben.
It's great to be apart of a steriophile, being that i'm a newbie

I've recently picked up a pair of Leak TL/25 plus amps, which i'm pumped about. PUMPED!

I was hoping to use the knowledge of the good people here to assist me in finding a speaker that are well suited to this fine amp.

I'm not fussed about floor or stand speakers, just in quality at a reasonable price.(Happy to spend if justified) For this reason i'm going for 2nd hand.

some speakers I've looked at and have been impressed with:

Denon DL-110 Phono Cartridge or ?

Hi All, I have a reconditioned Marantz 6110 TT coming and want to install a new cartridge once I receive it.

I was thinking on the Denon DL-110 since its in my price range. I currently have a Grado Blue on my Dual which I can move over to the Marantz but eventually I want to put the Grado on my Yamaha YP-450 and something nice on the Marantz.

Not sure what I'm gonna do with the Dual 521... maybe trade it in or put it away for a rainy day but I think the Marantz will be my new main TT and the Yamaha as my backup.

DIY Audio Rack Progress (not a FleXy)

For those of you that don't cruise the entry level forum... I have been planing a DIY Rack for a while. My dad and I finally got started on it today.

The design is based off of SRA's Craz 4 rack.
http://www.soundstage.com/revequip/silentrunning_craz_4.htm

We are using high quality maple for all of the wood on the rack and shelf supports. The Shelves will be 19x19in laminated MDF and will be connected to the rack by 3 downward pointing spikes.

Review: Vincent SV-236MK

I really enjoyed Michael Fremer's review of the Vincent 236 MK. A $1995 integrated amplifier that he says he would have never guessed its price and "he has been around this stuff for a long time". His conclusion about "proof of the law of diminishing returns" says a lot to me about the performance of this product and one in which I would now recommend to others. I am going to hear it as soon as I can and thanks for putting a review in real world terms.

Be Happy, You've Got:

It's really serious. I mean, in the beginning, you might give yourself a $25 spending limit, knowing very well that you'll find a little spot on the floor, alongside several others who'll be furiously rifling through the dollar bins. You'll almost certainly come away with a nice little stack of a dozen or so beautiful vinyl LPs. And that's all you'll need, really. That's all you'll need.

Sams review of Sony xdr f1hd tuner

Been assembling a under $400 system for one of my friends a Doc. Sure you would think he could afford more but he spends most all of his funds on the 6 grade schools he started in Cambodia. [one school can be started for $60k] Hard to assemble a system that sounds fair at this $400 price level even with used kit tried much used most all failed as I tested it, so had to buy new gear except JBL speakers I found used. And now hes been asking for a tuner. And I thank you for the review was a big time saver for me. Take care and happy listening. JK-K.C.S.
