I'm sure this has been answered a million times here, but I can't find it.
I would like to rip all my CDs onto my hard drive and sell the old CDs (to buy more vinyl, of course). I hope to purchase a Squeezebox to link my digital music to my receiver.
What it the best format or iTunes settings to preserve this music, since I won't have the CDs any longer? I dont think drive space will be an issue; I should be able to use an large external hard drive, correct? I don't really care about the portability issues in terms of a ipod type player.
so sometimes when i'm changing records there is a loud static "pop" that is sent to my speakers, usually when i touch the turntable or record. i try to remember to decrease the volume but don't always remember. i do use a demagnetizing brush on my records before playing them but i'm not getting a gun or anything like that.
i just want to know: is this static "pop" going to hurt the speakers, or anything else, if experienced occasionally?

Just closing the "Visit to Mikey's" thread, Stephen, does not end the discussion and does not end controversy. It is already continuing under other threads.
Dr. Kunchur's papers seem to have been buried under the weight of childish arguing in the other thread, so I will start a new one here.
