Electrical engineer Vern Credille, 65, who spent more than three decades working alongside Wilson Audio founder Dave Wilson and, later in his career, Daryl Wilson, Dave's son and successor, died of cancer on Friday, June 12, 2026.
A statement posted to wilsonaudio.com makes clear the magnitude of the loss to Wilson and its community. "His influence can be found throughout many of Wilson Audio's most iconic products, from the X-1 Grand SLAMM to his final tweaks and touch on the Autobiography. Together with Wilson Audio's world-class R&D team, Vern's unwavering pursuit of truth and meticulous refinement of critical signal-path components helped elevate the Autobiography. It was a fitting culmination to a remarkable career, and his work remains deeply woven into Wilson Audio's history, helping redefine what is possible in high-end audio reproduction."
"While Vern's many talents and gifts to Wilson Audio will be deeply missed," the statement continued, "we will miss our dear friend and colleague even more. His brilliance was matched only by his kindness, and both were evident to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Vern freely shared his passion, knowledge, and wisdom, living by the belief that a rising tide lifts all ships. He was always willing to teach, mentor, and share his insights with anyone eager to learn.
"Vern's humor, warm smile, and generous spirit will never be forgotten. We are profoundly grateful for his 33 years of Authentic Excellence and for the countless ways he enriched Wilson Audio, our team, and our lives."
Walter Vernon Credille joined Wilson Audio on October 14, 1992, after earning degrees in Electrical Engineering Technology and Electrical Engineering from Brigham Young University and the University of Utah. Beyond his aching colleagues at Wilson, he leaves behind his wife, Kathy, his children Cy, Tatem, and Tesha, four grandchildren, and countless audiophiles whose lives have been enriched by his work.
