Fiery Furnaces Friday

Hey everybody! As we like to say around here in the office, it's "Happy Friday!" For alliterative purposes, let's call it "Fiery Furnaces Friday." The Fiery Furnaces have something up their sleeve, and I don't know what it's all about, but I'm betting that's it's good. I bet there are a lot of words involved. But, perhaps, no sound. A lot of alliteration, too. The Fiery Furnaces are good at that.

There will be a silent record.

Because file-sharing, or downloading, or whatever, has notoriously, or supposedly, made the production of the conventional "with-audio" record obsolete, the Fiery Furnaces will release a Silent Record.

That'll teach 'em!

And then there will be a cover record. Or two. By the Fiery Furnaces, of the Fiery Furnaces.

Matthew and Eleanor are taking time out from watching season two of Mad Men to record separate, complete, cover, tribute, albums, of, to, I'm Going Away. Only the words will remain the same. Though in Eleanor's case, the singer remains the same. The song, never. Or mostly never.

In the meantime, we have twelve new poppy, fuzzy, schizophrenic songs. Here's the video for "Charmaine Champagne," a track from the band's lovely album, I'm Going Away. You want it. You need it. You gotta have it.
