We start our survey of small speakers with Robert J. Reina's review of the Paradigm Reference Studio/20 loudspeaker. "Impressive right out of the box" is how Reina charaterizes the two-way design, which gets an in-depth review and also a May 2002 followup from Robert Deutsch.

John Atkinson then takes on the PSB New Stratus Mini commenting, "I feel that small stand-mounted speakers both offer the best value in sound quality, as well as standing the best chance of sounding good in moderate-sized listening rooms." JA checks the Mini from top to bottom.

Next, JA investigates the B&W Compact Domestic Monitor 1 loudspeaker, comparing it to the PSB Mini and the Micron Carat. Finding that they are a "very competitively priced" bunch, Atkinson seeks to understand the strengths and weaknesses in each design. Sam Tellig adds his thoughts on the CDM 1 Special Edition.

Finally we have Dick Olsher's comprehensive perusal of the JMlab Micron loudspeaker with a complete 1996 followup on the improved Carat version of the Micron from JA. Olsher and Atkinson listen carefully to determine if the JMlab is a micro design with the ability to create a "giant musical reproduction."

Finally, the latest installment in our "Recording of the Month" series for the online archives, Recording of November 1997: 11,000 Virgins. Les Berkley finds himself in sonic heaven and explains what the deal is with all of those virtuous women.
