"Does the modern audiophile want a sleek, compact, powerful, remote-controlled, microprocessor-driven, two-channel integrated amplifier?" Michael Fremer seeks the answer as he reviews the Perreaux R200i integrated amplifier. It may be small, but as MF finds, it also packs a punch.

Next, John Atkinson finds himself wanting to stroke the polished grain-streaked sides of the Earthworks Sigma 6.2 loudspeaker. But looks are only half the story, as JA explains.

Also from the June issue, we have Kalman Rubinson firing up the Audes Jazz loudspeaker, asking "What might one expect of an Estonian loudspeaker?" Rubinson listens intently, and reports on what you can get for a reasonable $1899/pair.

Then Paul Bolin provides his take on the Calix Phoenix Grand Signature loudspeaker. Bolin explains that, while the Calix is an obviously unique and expensive speaker, it's necessary to discover "is 'different' better, or is it just different?"

Sam Tellig provides a brief follow-up on the Halcro dm58 monoblock noting that what the Halcros did, they did spectacularly.

Finally, the newest addition to our "Recording of the Month" series for the online archives: Recordings of December 1994: Wagner: Siegfried and Götterdämmerung. According to Richard Lehnert, "What Barenboim's Ring lacks in absolute top-flight voices, it more than makes up for in substance, inspired conducting, and unparalleled sound."
