has anyone heard these guys? I am not really a fan of some contemporary fusion bands but I have to say that these guys are truly phenomenal.. they are contemporary jazz with a strong background in Hip Hop it sounds like but their skill is amazing. I havent come across too many people who are familiar with this group but I have a feeling that they will be very successful in years to come.. here is their main website and so far the only one ive found with their music..
Picked up my new cables and interconnects today. The wide, expansive soundstage that I have become used to with my old cables is now about the size of a manilla folder hoovering about 2 feet above my rack.
Breaking-in new cables is true audio Hell and should be done while on vacation, away from home.
While I was out, I picked up the new T. Monk and J. Coltrane at Carnagie Hall cd. As tempting as it is to play it, I'm going to wait a few days.
My father died in May and I just received all of his McIntosh audio equipment. I never had anything this nice before of my own. I always had one piece stereo systems out-of-the-box, so this is the first time with high end stuff. My dad seemed to be upgrading, because some of the units he had appear to perform the same function.
I will list what I have and then ask two questions hoping someone here can answer. Any help would be appreciated.
My house has a neat old fisher/Scott tube stereo built into the wall sadly not used any more but ayways i was in the attic behind the system looking around and i found this neat little General Electric phono pre-amp....can anyone tell me about this and if it is even worth using...although i am a big record collector I always thought that the only reason for a phono pre-amp is if your receiver dosnt support phono. I have compared several SACD discs with their original non-SACD versions (for example, the original issue of "American Angels" on HMU and its SACD incarnation). It sounds, to me, like the NORMAL (non-SACD 2 track or surround) layer on the SACD sounds worse than the CD in its original issue. I've heard this difference on Mercs and Living Stereos, too. Shouldn't non-
SACD versions--whether on an SACD disc or the original issue--sound identical? Anyone else experience this?
