Cyrus CD8X ... glassy sound

Hi everyone

I have a cyrus CD8X running with NAIM NAC 102 and 2 x NAP 90/3, and PMC GB1 speakers. (I love my PMC speakers).

I'm struggling to love my Cyrus mainly because string sounds can be so glassy and tough. It can be amazing at times but its very inconsistent, showing up some CDs very badly. Having bi-amped my speakers things have improved a little.

Picky, Picky

Picky, Picky

"Centuries from now, scientists may point to this as the moment in time when the pickiness gene became dominant. In the end, it will come down to one really old, lonely guy and his list.

Essential Miles

Forums

I know that I could look at other lists, etc., but I wanted to generate some opinions here. How about listing what you consider essential Miles Davis albums? Of course, Kind of Blue generally is on everyone's list and that's a given, but what other albums do you consider essential? Also, what do you consider "for fanatics only"?

H.E. 2006, Tally Ho!

Hola,

Anybody gonna be headed to H.E. 2006?

Just got fiscal clearance.

Going with my neighbor and partner in hi fi crimes, Big Mike. Bringing lotsa vino...better to drink what I've already got than violate my quadruple secret fiscal probation by spending on fresh stuff.

Might even go apeshit and bring a mini-system for after hours partying. Is that allowed?

Got a vintage Superphon Revelation II preamp with an adequate phono stage.

Audio Revolution

Audio vs. Video
The two fields present us with tendencies that are conflicting, one relative to the other.
In the video realm, the aim is towards a higher quality image & experience: from the standard resolution (800x640) to high-definition (1920x1080), from the 35mm film frame to imax (38720x24120 pixels/frame), even the home set-up is improved with a variety of plasma/LCD/projector displays and with the new generation of Blu-ray disks.
