I know some light dimmers can introduce noise. Don't recall if it's RF or if it's junk put back directly into the A/C. I'm helping my Dad run some inexpensive speaker cables within a wall for some simple in-wall Bostons in one room and small Paradigms in another. The majority of the speaker wires will run within walls where dimmers might be dimmed.
At any rate an electrician told us today we "need" shielded speaker cables to avoid noise. Seems to me the source and receiver we're using (also nearby) could just as well pick up noise, if there's any to be picked up.
I was going to purchase a DAC (for me) and a PS/3 for my kids(yeah right) and I was wondering if the PS/3 would make a better transport than my old Marantz CD-67se player. I know that the PS/3 was just announced and I have not found specs on the transport. I was hoping someone else might have some info. I only have money to by the DAC and PS/3.
Thanks,
Gord
I now know why I love 2-channel audio and video.
My wife wanted to totally redo the TV room. Paint and carpet...the whole shebang. 6 years earlier the install was Complete. Now as I start to dis-mantle all the wiring and I remember how much I love 2-channel audio. It was attack of the dust bunnies. Man, they are evil. I cannot believe how much dust has developed, but I will admit this is the dustiest house we have ever owned.
Just picked up some used classical bargains yesterday. Both are from Murray Hill of NY. 5 discs of Alfred Brendel Plays Liszt's Greatest Piano Works, S43636. The box is near mint with the 4 page liner notes in perfect condition. Once cleaned the records are near mint.
