I would like to use an ipod loaded with "lossless" files as a source for my mid-fi (NAD components, JMLab low-end speakers) system. I recognize that this may not be an optimum solution, but I expect it to be satisfactory. There seem to be a variety of docks out there, plus interconnects that connect to either the dock connector or the headphone out. I would prefer a dock, i.e. a device that would hold the ipod up and recharge it, but am potentially open to an interconnect as well. I don't care about remote functionality.
I am wanting to know if there is a High End Headphone magazine out there somewhere under the bright blue sky?I have been trolling the internet but haven't come across anything.I figured if there was one somebody would know here.
Thanks
p.s.
Hey Mr.Phillips how about "Stereophile Guide To High End Headphones" that would be dreamy yea...
Kudos to "Phile" to opening eyes to music servers. When you look at JA's test data and then read (twice) WP's review it make one wonder if someone is looking at a $2K player that you should pause long and hard at the Slim Devices unit. There are great Cd players that do not have the DAC specs this unit does. If it is about the music, this may be the future. A little pricey? Perhaps.....
Hello all,
I'm new to the Stereophile community but I have heard great things about this place through other forums/sites that have been of great help to me.
I'm looking to purchase my first surround setup and home theatre system before Summer 07'. Here's what i want:
- Surround and great sound for DVD's, TV, and video games
- Not to worried about music (i have my PC and powered monitors for that...) But DVD music that sounds good is always a plus
I don't have the HT setup yet, but you can look at my other post HERE: future setup to see what i'm looking at purchasing. I just want to be prepared and want to know your opinions/suggestions.

Anyway, Can you please steer me in the right direction for true hifi tube amps for headphones?
thanks
I've been scratch building a tube amp and I have finally finished wiring it up. I put it on the variac and cranked up the power - no smoke! Unfortunately also no sound. Not a snap crackle or pop out of it. I have an OPT that is supposedly from a Fisher chassis. I ohmed it out and it should be fine but I want to make sure that I have the wiring right - so does anyone know what Fisher used for their color codes?
