Milwaukee Sym Downloads

I went to the Dark Side today off the "Phile" news page and downloaded MSO Saint Sans Symphony #3. 80+ megs in about 8 minutes for all of $5.99. It would have cost me more than that to drive to my nearest outlet...and if they had it, paid even more.

The Binaural sound is excellent. Even as I listen through my $80 Firewire Behringer FCA 202 I cannot complain about the fidelity...I have symphonic CDs that sound worse for sure.

Viewing it on my waveform editors in Sony SoundForge or WavePad it is nice to see the dynamic range left intact.

JBL in TAS "Best of Show"

Forums

Looks like soem "PA" speakers did a great job at the show....TAS dude thinks it possibly best of show, pretty cool for the PA speaker company, dontcha think. So much for teh myths that somehow a PA speaker which this ain't is something less of a speaker. The fact that they can handle extreme sound levels, poor enviroments, mean they are well made, not just dressed up fancy cabinets tot add useless frills. DD66000 from JBL..... So many pro brands that are ignored for using in home.

TAS, ramblings

So i is perrusing the Stereophile competitors in writings...seems like the $100,000 platter sitting on a motor!!! DISAPPONITED for teh 2nd year at teh show according to the observer!!!! Wonder what MF thinks about it, any response? How on earth could something that costs so much deliver so little? An Audi RS4 is "only" $72K, it's got lotsa recise bearings motors, controllers fit and finish beyond a work of art..I continue to wanna know...HOW CAN ANYTHING cost $100,000 that is a spinning platter on a motor!!! And then be a DISSAPOINTEMENT!!!!!!!!

Check out RED on tour with Sevendust

Hey hows it going? This is an awesome band I would like to tell you about if you dont already know them. Their name is RED and they are fairly new to the music scence, but are already making waves. They are currently touring with Sevendust for a 42 day crosscountry tour along with Invirto and diecast. They have toured with the likes of Three Days Grace, Flyleaf, Papa Roach and Buckcherry just to name a few. Their Debut album was released in June and was nominated for a grammy. They draw comparisons to Evanessence, Linkin Park, Crossfade and Chevelle.

Pioneer S-1EX loudspeaker Measurements

Pioneer S-1EX loudspeaker Measurements

One of the highlights of such annual events as the Consumer Electronics and Primedia Home Entertainment shows has been the demonstrations of loudspeakers from TAD, the professional division of Pioneer Electronics. Designer Andrew Jones is always generous in using recordings brought by visitors, and enthusiastic in explaining the technology behind these beautiful behemoths. Among these speakers' unique features are a beryllium dome tweeter mounted concentrically inside a beryllium midrange cone, and a cabinet built of stacked, carved horizontal sections, for incredible rigidity without using exotic materials or excessive mass. The concentric upper-range driver is a reminder that, some time back, Jones worked for KEF, where the coaxial UniQ driver was developed, but the materials and details of the TAD drivers are all new. While the TAD Model 1s are always good for musical and audiophile thrills, their price is in the upper five figures, which put them out of serious purchase consideration.
