Yet Another Reality-Based Review of 300

Yet Another Reality-Based Review of 300

It's funny, but one of the topics Jeff Wong and I have been discussing, seemingly on a daily basis, has been the endless barrage of negative reviews of 300. I have my misgivings—principally the film's depiction of Hoplite warfare that completely ignores the existence of hoplon armor or Hoplite tactics.

I picked up "The Very Best of Cole Porter" before I went to work (UMG) today and I am very pleased with it. The album contains the song "Night and Day" which is an all time favorite of mine. To find out what other songs are on the album check out http://www.vervemusicgroup.com/product.aspx?ob=n&src=art&pid=11678
Anyone have the album? Please share your thoughts

Need recomendations: Organ?

I don't know too much about classical music, but I really enjoy listening to the organ. Can you guys suggest some very well recorded CD, SACD, or DVD-A's that focus on the organ that are currently available? Bach, perhaps? In addition, if you can list a source that I might be able to purchase them from.

I do have a very small collection of classical music from various artists, but the recordings are very poor.

Thanks,

Mike

Athena LS Series

Forums

Hello All,
I was wondering if anyone has had the chance to hear any of the new Athena LS line of speakers? They appear to use the same drivers that their sister company, Energy, is using in their C series. I've always been impressed with almost all of Athena's products, and wonder how this new line stacks up. In my small room (9x12)I was thinking of trying the LS300. It's a floorstander with a 6.5" fiberglass woofer and a 1" aluminum tweeter. I think the LS500 with twin woofers would be too much for my room. So let me know if you heard any of these.
Thanks

Traneumentary

If, when listening to the music of John Coltrane, you've been asking yourself what am I missing?, Traneumentary will give you answers. It's a podcast series that interleaves commentary and Coltrane's music with interviews with collaborators like McCoy Tyner and Jimmy Cobb, contemporary musicians like Terence Blanchard and Jason Moran, and legendary producers Michael Cuscuna and Joel Dorn—not to mention the great man himself.
