A number of people have claimed that the dynamic range of a given recording is often better on LP than on CD. Is this really true?
This would mean that there are two different mastered versions of the same recording: one intended for release on CD; the other, on LP.
Do labels really master two different release versions and put different versions on CD than on LP?
Hello everybody, I'm looking to build a stereo
I got some speakers from my neighbor which are each made of 2 12" subs, a mid, and a high. The only problem is that the woofers are blown pretty bad, so I need to find some subs for them. Only one sub in each box is powered and the other one I guess is powered by the air in the box. Would it be better for me to make them both powered or should I only power one? I found some car subs for cheap on ebay but they can handle 600w each. Would it be bad for me to hook those up to a reciever that makes about 200-300 watts?
Sometimes less is more, but then again, maybe not when it comes to audio. Do you connect your loudspeaker cables to your amp and loudspeaker with bare wire at the ends or with connectors such as pins, spade lugs, or banana plugs? If you use connectors, what kind do you use?
I've just purchased a pair of Monitor Audio Silver RS6 speakers. Now I'm trying to pick a cheap integrated amplifier (my budget is around 500US). At first, I thought I would go for the NAD C352 but since I may not need much power, my local store recommended the NAD 325BEE (or even the old 320BEE). Arcam also has the reputation to pair well with Monitor Audio and I'm considering the Diva A65 (in fact, I was only able to try my speakers with the A80 so far and it sounded good to my unexperienced ears). Another match could be the Cambridge Audio 640A.
