Tempus Fugit......five years on.

Hola,

If there were only one thing (which there isn't, I'm just saying) that I had a chance to thanks Sam Tellig for in this world, it would have been his introducing me to a friend I never met but felt as though I knew.

Sam made me feel I had an audio buddy and soul mate in his friend Lars Fredell. Lars died five years ago, but I think of him at least weekly. For as long as I am able to hang on this mortal coil (and I'm sure it's true for others in the hobby who "knew" him as, as well) Lars will live on.

very entry level system

Replacing 15 year old system. I enjoy music but I don't have a large budget ($ 1,500- 2,000) and my wife doesn't want large speakers in the room. I've zeroed in on Yamaha RX 797 receiver (100Wx2) and Paradigm Monitor 7 speakers.

Is the Yamaha a good power match with the Monitor 7s? Suggestions on receivers ($500) and speakers (<$900) in this price range would be appreciated.

Thanks

Digital Music Association (DiMA) and Sound Exchange (SX) announced on August 23 that they had reached an agreement to "cap the Internet radio '$500 per channel minimum royalty' at $50,000 per service, signaling the start of productive negotiations and bringing resolutions to three important music industry issues," according to DiMA's press release.

Tweeter Twists in the Wind

Tweeter Twists in the Wind

It has been a fraught week for Tweeter Newco LLC, the A/V specialty chain acquired by Shultze Asset Management in July. On August 17, the company trimmed its corporate staff by "half," approximately 80 staffers at the home office in Canton, MA. It was the second corporate re-structuring since January, when 20% of the corporate staff was laid off.

Technical Explainations?

I have recently become interested in thinking about building some of my own speakers. Being new though, a lot of the technicalities are very hard to understand.

I was wondering if anyone knows a good place to go to read about what different driver specs mean (Qts, Vas. SPL, ect.) and how they relate to one another, and what some of the different graphs that speaker applications show you account for (Transfer function magnitide/phase, Impedance, Group Delay, etc.).
