Hi,
I'm new to the forum. I apologize if this post is in the wrong place.
In the next year or so, I'd like to start upgrading my current system. Right now, I'm considering McIntosh, NAD Masters series, and the Cambridge Audio 840 series. I'd like to keep the cost of each component under $2k (hopefully more like $1.5k). The idea is to buy a component (maybe two) a year.

Hey all,
I am the Audio Chair of my fraternity house (Kappa Sigma), and I am looking to purchase a system for our billiards room. It will also be used to provide our porch with music (through the window... I know, somewhat crude). My budget is only $800; no more. I'm curious as to what you all recommend. I would say that good volume and bass is important... I realize this budget won't buy audiophile quality equipment, but it's all I have to work with. All suggestions welcome. Thanks

I recently sent my Proceed PAV/PDSD to one of three authorized Harmon sub-contracted repair shops. This particular shop was Pyramid Audio in Texas (the other two are in the North East). Though equipment runs through an Adcom power conditioner I have twice been confronted with lightening damage. On the first occasion I was able to send the units directly to Harmon for repair. The service was prompt and professional and the units returned in about three weeks in pristine condition. Harmon, apparently, no longer performs these kinds of repairs on site.

I am confused on the Class A rating for Balanced Audio Technology VK-3iX. I thought at least this time it will be cleared out in recommended component lists that whether this rating is for VK-3iX or VK-3iX SE.
In Vol.28 No.11 November, 2005, Robert Deutsch reviewed the Standard Version VK-3iX that uses four 6922 tubes but John Atkinson measured the Special Edition versions that uses two 6H30 Super Tubes.
Kindly clear which preamplifier is given this Class A rating, VK-3iX or VK-3iX SE and if the Class A rating is given to VK-3iX then is it solely based on Robert Deutsch
