If this has been done before I apologise in advance, however I could not find it, so here we go...

Completely at random and exactly as it comes when it feels good to list a few one liners, the question is, can this community hang together a comprehensive listing of musical / hifi / lofi / anything fi which is unquestionably the definitive list of all 'absolutes' with no debate possible?

We all have our pet loves / hates and it will be easy to let things run away into the valves versus solid state, copper versus silver, digital versus analogue and on and on, so if we can steer clear of sillyness and use lots of 'generally' 'usually' 'should be' and other non-confrontational words, then it might be okay...

I will start the ball rolling with ten easy ones to see how things go. This could be fun and we might end up with a mega huge listing which could then be classified / indexed and edited into something useful and meaningful for all of us?

1)Individual power amps usually produce more refined and detailed sound than integrated amps.

2)Always try to avoid placing components on top of each other (use individual shelves whenever possible)

3)Any cable, especially for speakers, usually performs best when shortest possible length can be used.

4)If long cables are to be used anywhere for speakers, then identical length per speaker pair is best, even if both do not require it.

5)If cables of any kind are longer than required then it is best never to coil the excess length upon itself but best to 'meander' around the room somehwere.

6)Try not to run differing cables directly alongside each other if possible (eg power alongside speaker cable)

7)Interconnect cables as a general rule should be identical pairs from the same manufacturer

8)Bi-wiring (or tri-wiring) of speakers which have the capability to be used that way is usually best.

9)Bi-amping (individual amp for each of two speakers) is usually best if you can afford to do it.

10)High cost does not always buy high quality.

Okay, so there a couple in there that might need to be refined...hey, lets have some fun!!!

It is not actually all that easy and I for one had to resort to real basic stuff to get my brain thinking genuinely about what others are going to say BUT with the intention being to agree before disagreeing...novel concept methinks...try it folks...edit if you will, but please add a few of your own also...
