Truth about Nordost Valhalla power cord

Forums

I have owned Valhalla power cord for 2 and half years now. I have cut and sliced everything to pieces and now I know the truth. I have written many megabytes of logs so I will try to sum up everything into a short text.

Noise + Valhalla = Real life

I have found that Valhalla uses AC noise in order to give fake transparency to the sound. It doesn't function without the noise, the noise must be there! It works best when plugged into the wall without any shielding or power conditioning.

a question about stereo imaging (the voice)

Hi.I'm in the painful quest (for me at least) of getting a good imaging in my stereo system. (Basically a NAD pre, Golden Theater amp and Triangle Antal ESW speakers). The thing is that I have experienced how wonderful, glorious and revealing music can be when you have your speakers well placed. I need a reference: does the voice (in most of the songs and styles from pop to rock from jazz to easy listening) always should come from the center? I am talking in a two speakers stereo system.

Recommended Components

In the October, 2007 issue the Recommened Components contain no interconnect priced beneath $350/m pair. There are no recommended speaker cables to be found at less than $800 per 8' pair. While digital cables fair somewhat better with recommended items to be had at as little as $12.52 per 3' cable (?), can these recommendations be true? The implication would be I cannot have even a moderately "recommended" system unless I've spent at least $1,150 on cables for a one source, two channel component system with speakers placed approximately five feet apart.

Filarmonia SE

Two questions. The cover of the issue suggests the Filarmonia is an "Artful Italian Amp". The copy of the review indicates the parent company is Spanish. Surely this is not a case of "they all look alike" when Mediterranean designers are concerned. Ars-Sonum's "genial factotum", Ricardo Hernandez, might take exception to that generality.

Class A rating for Balanced Audio Technology VK-3iX or BAT VK-3iX SE

I am confused on the Class A rating for Balanced Audio Technology VK-3iX. I thought at least this time it will be cleared out in recommended component lists that whether this rating is for VK-3iX or VK-3iX SE.

In Vol.28 No.11 November, 2005, Robert Deutsch reviewed the Standard Version VK-3iX that uses four 6922 tubes but John Atkinson measured the Special Edition versions that uses two 6H30 Super Tubes.

Kindly clear which preamplifier is given this Class A rating, VK-3iX or VK-3iX SE and if the Class A rating is given to VK-3iX then is it solely based on Robert Deutsch
