Cremona and rock and roll

Forums

I have an opportunity to purchase a pair of used Cremona "full range" speakers for a reasonable price. They sound great with jazz, classic, chamber, solo and voice, which I love. But they sound too "sterile" with rock and roll - they don't swing and the bass doesn't slam. I auditioned them through a Simaudio Moon i5.3. Before I plop down a large sum, I would like to audition these through another amp. Any recommendations for a better amp for these speakers?

Salsa Means Soul 1

Stephen,

What a tremendous collection of Salsa music! Songs there I've never heard and will have to, definately, give a listen.

Have you ever heard the "Celia y Willie" release? Those two make a marvelous duo...another Marvin and Tammi.

When will your compilation disc be available?

Mike

ps: You need to start another "audio software" category for Salsa.

cable length

I realize this one must have been hammered to death in this forum, so feel free to direct me to other threads if appropriate:

I recently moved to a bigger place, and I need to buy longer cables to drive my speakers, which are now 23 Feet away from my system.

Given the fact that longer cables necessarily mean a degradation of sound quality, my question is:

What is better?

Option A: Should I buy 2 x 23 Feet speaker cables and place my power amp near the rest of my system?

problem with Sony Receiver

I've had my Sony STR-DE415 for about 10 years without a problem--recently it developed one. After turning it on, the display flashes "protect" and I get no sound. I no longer have the manual, so I'm not sure what this means or how to fix it. I've checked all the wiring and it appears to be in order--speaker cables are properly connect at both ends, as is the stereo cable from my CD player (also a Sony). Anyone know what's up? Thanks.
