Audio Research Acquired by Quadrivio

Audio Research, one of the companies that created the Silver Age of American high-end audio 38 years ago, was acquired by Italian private equity firm Quadrivio SGR on January 25. Quadrivio, which acquired Sonus Faber in 2007, intends to keep Audio Research's current management team in place.

A Depressing Day

Before I entered the NYU Silver Center for my Elements of Music class today, I hung my Grado SR60s around my neck. When I got to class, I noticed one of my earpads had fallen off. I let off a pretty audible, "ah fuck." I ran around the room and hallways franticly looking for the missing piece, but I simply couldn't find it. I then sulked for the rest of class. Fortunately, the classroom has a pair of Polk Audio RTi10s which beat any pair of regular classroom in ceiling speakers.

What’s the point of having a blog if you can’t be self-indulgent now and then? So allow me to plug my new book, Daydream Believers: How a Few Grand Ideas Wrecked American Power (Wiley & Sons). As the subtitle may suggest, it is not a biography of the Monkees but rather a journalistic dissection of why the United States’ global adventures and image have gone to hell in recent years. Some of you may know that I write a twice-weekly column in Slate about such matters. My book is not a compilation of my columns; it’s all new stuff. The official pub date is February 4, but it’s already in stock in many bookstores and on amazon.

old & new compatability

Noobie here. I own several pairs of bose speakers. I currently use moderate solid state amps. I'm looking to start a new hobby and tweak a dynaco st-70. When finished, will I have enough grunt to run the bose? Also the misses let me look at my checkbook and OK'D the purchase of 2 Mc2100 from a friend what is the general opinion on these amps?
