What could be seem as a theoretical approach to DRC techniques is, in truth, based on misconceptions and lack of understanding and need some comments about.
Let's look at the figures:
Hey guys - I'm offering the first of many Free Music Fridays on Computer Audiophile. These are free (as in beer) high resolution downloads.
To all Bob Dylan fans:
First: If you haven't already seen it then by all means please go out and see the movie "I'm Not There" before it leaves the theaters. Link to IMDB info:
Second: Listen to the soundtrack recording of "I'm Not There"
The soundtrack is a double CD featuring 34 tracks by a wide variety of artists, all covering a wide variety of Dylan compositions.
Here are two very nice Jazz Internet radio stations that stream at 128K.
RadioCrazy Modern Jazz @ http://stream3140.init7.net:80
and
RadioCrazy Swing Jazz @ http://relay.radio.ethz.ch:8001/radiocrazy-jazz.mp3.m3u
Both station streams will work on Transporters and Squeezeboxes via SqueezeNetwork.
I was wondering if anyone here has used the Granite Audio Phono Stage Burn-in CD on an Slee Era Gold V or any other pre-amp. Slee says that it should take 3 weeks of use to burn-in the pre-amp but I'm not sure that he means non-stop 24 hour everyday use is required for the 3 week break-in period. I've already run the disc for 30 hours and I wonder how much more time it will take before the pre-amp is burned in at that rate.
Thanks!
Room is roughly 9' across by 16' deep by 8' high and made entirely of different kinds of concrete, with hardwood floors. DIY bass traps help, but the room is problematic with or without. System is Arcam FMJ-CD23 player, Naim AV2 pre-pro, Naim Nait5i (gain matched) for power, and, currently, Linn Ninkas. The Ninkas sound good -- decent PRAT with adequate microphonics and well-controlled bass, but conspicuously lack in the imaging and soundstage department.
