Squeezebox Duet Puts the Display in Your Hand

Squeezebox Duet Puts the Display in Your Hand

Logitech's Squeezebox Network Systems has added a new model, the Duet, which adds a 2.4" color-LCD screen and a scroll-wheel to the unit's hand-held remote (not unlike the Sonos system). The screen can display song titles, album art, customized wallpapers—even RSS feeds and radio station IDs.

List narrowed to five speakers for tricky room

Forums

Room is roughly 9' across by 16' deep by 8' high and made entirely of different kinds of concrete, with hardwood floors. DIY bass traps help, but the room is problematic with or without. System is Arcam FMJ-CD23 player, Naim AV2 pre-pro, Naim Nait5i (gain matched) for power, and, currently, Linn Ninkas. The Ninkas sound good -- decent PRAT with adequate microphonics and well-controlled bass, but conspicuously lack in the imaging and soundstage department.

Much of the April issue shipped to prepress yesterday, and the big "Recommended Components" feature is on its way out right now. All that's left to go is "Letters," "Industry Update," and the table of contents. Often, our shipping days coincide with the arrival of our office supply of the previous month's issue. That is, as we send off the April issue, the completed and bound March issues are arriving here.

Granite Audio Burn-In CD and Era Gold V Pre-amp

I was wondering if anyone here has used the Granite Audio Phono Stage Burn-in CD on an Slee Era Gold V or any other pre-amp. Slee says that it should take 3 weeks of use to burn-in the pre-amp but I'm not sure that he means non-stop 24 hour everyday use is required for the 3 week break-in period. I've already run the disc for 30 hours and I wonder how much more time it will take before the pre-amp is burned in at that rate.

Thanks!
