Krell 400xi or Creek Destiny Integrated

Please help. I want to get an integrated amp for my leap into hi fi. I've narrowed the field down to the Krell 400xi or the Creek Destiny. I plan on hooking up a record player right away and, in time, a cd player. I'd like to start with one of the two amps shown above but, alas, I live in a part of the world where I can't listen to either. Stereophile (and others) seem to have a love on for the Creek, but what about the Krell. I need advice. Any help would be very much appreciated.

Buried Treasure: 13 Ways, by Wes Phillips

I've worked at <i>Stereophile</i> for eight years, and, in a time when people change jobs as often as they change cars or television sets, eight years is a pretty good stretch. In that time, I've taken part in some exciting and memorable things, from <a href="http://www.stereophile.com/news/050205Day4/index.html">Home Entertainment Shows</a> and <a href="http://www.stereophile.com/news/010905ces3/index.html">Consumer Electronics Shows</a> to the live recording of <a href="http://www.stereophile.com/musicrecordings/907att/index.html">Attention Screen at Merkin Hall</a>. But <i>Stereophile</i> is fifteen years older than me, and I missed so much.

Duevel Planets

Duevel Planets

Mutine's Pascal Ravach was demonstrating the small, but striking, Duevel Planets omnidirectional speakers (CDN$1495/pair), The Planets consist of a floorstanding vented cabinet with an upward-firing 5" woofer and 1" horn-loaded tweeter. The drivers fire against reflective spheres, which disperse the sound.

A closer look at Vienna Acoustics' coaxial tweeter-midrange unit. The central dome is supported by the magnet pole-piece of the flat midrange driver&mdash;and the strengthening ribs are said to dissipate standing waves on the surface of the driver.

Kevin Wolff, Vienna Acoustics' new international sales manager, poses next to the new $25,000/pair The Music loudspeakers. That rotating section of the cabinet contains Vienna Acoustics' revolutionary (<I>hah!</I>) new, flat, concentric 7" tweeter-midrange unit, which handles frequencies from 200Hz to 20kHz. A separate super-tweeter takes over above the audioband.

Love the AKG sound - what is similar

Hi. Im new here and Im rebuilding my audio life (need a system to play music from the computer, and a easy office system).

I love AKG products, unfortunately they dont make home stereo type stuff. I have the akg 240 headphones and used to tape live shows with AKG480s. I am VERY SURE that this is the type of sound i like.

Anyways, I was wondering if anyone out there had reccomendations for either brands or specific components that have a similar warm sound.

Thanks.
