Record Skip

Hi,

I just bought a used record that always skips at the exact same spot and the only way to get it to stop is to bump it.
Although, I don't know how good of an idea that is.
Anyway, I wanted to know if there is anyway to fix this? or am I doomed to having to bump my TT every time I listen to it?

Phono Tweaking

This might belong in another forum, but here goes... I have an ancient Denon DP-37F TT, that is used many times on a daily basis. I have a rather large collection of vinyl (~5,000) that I listen to all the time. Although my wife would like to ditch the records, and proceed straight to divorce court, I plan on continuing the quest for audio heaven.

Recently, I bought a record clamp, a Zerodust stylus cleaner, and I already have a VPI 16.5 record vacuum. Are there any other ways to goose my old 'table into providing the best sound?

iPod playing lossless vs CD player

Hello, I'm in the market for a cd player and I'm interested in their sound quality compared to an iPod.

In general terms, how expensive do you think the cd player has to be to outperform an iPod as a Hi Fi source. Or, put it the other way, is the iPod better as a source than cd players of which price range?

I'd appreciate if you could give examples of specific models and your opinions.

Carver M500T Meters - Repair

I need to find somebody who knows the inner workings of an old Carver M500T amplifier. Over these many years, the meters aren't equal anymore. One is noticeably higher than the other one, when there is music. Both return to 0 when there is no music being amplified. It seems there should be a pot that I can adjust, or something, but I don't see one. Anybody have any ideas on how to make these equal again?

Thanks in advance,

Lee

Naim NAIT 5i and CD5i demo yesterday...

I have embarked on a process of trying to find a good, 'One manufacturer' CD/integrated amplifier system and started yesterday at a respected local dealer with the Naim NAIT 5i and CD5i. I thought I would start with the best and most expensive of the options I am willing to consider.

I had just over an hour with components that had been set up and been powered up all day up until I arrived, say six hours (not straight from the box either, but demo stock that had presumably been 'burnt in' a while after many demos)
