That one album I want to catch hold of

Hello Folks,
Since the vinyl bug bit me, I have been feverishly raiding the used record stores around my area and have found some awsome stuff, like Rick Wright - Wet Dream, Mason - Profiles, Shakti with John Mclaughlin - Natural Elements, A Handful of Beauty and many more. Now I have a big list of records that I want to buy and this has inspired me for the current post.

What are the rare albums that you were/are looking for , that you would die to own (cd or vinyl). Have you found rare albums before and how was it to listen to them. I would like to hear your story.

jazz icons dvd collection

Forums

just a question for discussion. has anyone else discovered this series of dvd performances from these giants in the legacy of jazz on www.jazzicons.com? i wish the sound was not mono but i have used the series to introduce my kids to jazz in a way they understand...video. linear booklets are informative as well. sort of like a pbs broadcast without the solistations. the dvds are available seperately or in 3 bundles.

Fun & Easy Speaker Placement

Because speakers interact with the room in which they are placed, paying attention to the placement of your speakers within that room can make a big difference in sound quality. With your speakers optimally positioned, your system will sound better. And, in my experience, better sound leads to discovering more music.

And more music leads to more fun.

In a moment, I will resume my ongoing quest to put together a music lover's stereo system for about half the cost of my last such effort (see my columns in the October</A> and December</A> 2005 issues): $3750 rather than $7500. But first I want to urge everyone who hasn't already done so to check out the results of the Five Great Art Songs of the Rock Era write-in competition announced in my February 2008 column. The winning entries are great—really thought-provoking. Indeed, some of the lists, plus an unaccountably belated recollection, prompted me to put together my own alternate list. This list doesn't invalidate or replace my original one, but it benefited from the energy all the entrants (thanks, everyone) put into theirs. Here goes:

Speaker Recommendation

Greetings, Now that I am in the process of factory repair for my AudioRefinement Integrated Amp (about 40wpc), I need some "dream" speakers to complement. My budget is $1,500 for new or used. I think the speakers should be somewhat efficient (however, I was using Clements RT-7s prior). I am currently using Ruarks but will save them for the kids. Thanks for any input!!
