Nice, no way to respond to DUP ban post

Yea, DUP is a pain but?
The fact remains that his contributions here have been harmful to the growth of our forum. For that reason alone, we have banned him.
His posts have been harmful to the growth? Provide data please.
For that reason alone? So you are saying that growth if the primary reason for this site? Those that post popular topics are welcome, those that are anti-mainstream are not welcome?

Andrew Hill & Chico Hamilton (?!)

Andrew Hill & Chico Hamilton (?!)

Andrew Hill, the knotty avant-garde pianist, and Chico Hamilton, the boisterous polyrhythmic drummer, seem an unlikely pair at first (or second) glance. But they set off fascinating fireworks, and carved out sinuous jags of common ground, in a duet recording, Dreams Come True, just released on Joyous Shout!, an Indiana-based label that I’ve never heard of. (Its website seems to be a sort of shrine to Chico Hamilton merchandise.)

A Rookie upsampling question

I have owned CD players that upsample. I have never owned a DAC that had the capability so I am going to ask a foolish question. The Benchmark DAC1 has upsampling ability. How does this work. Does it simply recognize an upsampled data stream from a CD player or source, or does it take a signal from a CD player and then do the upsampling. I ask because I hope to aquire the DAC1 and am curious about which inexpensive CD player to use with it, one that upsamples or a cheaper one that does not but that I already own???

Jenny Scheinman

Jenny Scheinman

Jenny Scheinman is one of the liveliest, quirkiest jazz musicians out there, a violinist with folk roots, a kind of bluegrass cadence, and a deepening mastery of improvisational idiom. She’s playing at the Village Vanguard through this Sunday with Jason Moran (the best pianist on the scene), Greg Cohen (one of the two or three best bassists), and Rudy Royston (a drummer who’s new to me but he’s very good too). If you’re in the tri-State area, go see her.

novice tube amp questions - Eico HF20

I recently inherited a an old Eico HF20 from my dad, found another one relativley cheap, and had them both refurbished by a knowledgeable technician. I have them running through a pair of new Klipsch RB-81s and really like the sound but I still have some questions about them. I know that it is unusual, if not frowned upon, to attempt to run two mono integrated amps simultaneously for stereo listening, but I have found that the two amps do not sound 'identical'.

Any audiophiles in the Tampa, FL area want to win a McIntosh amp or some B&W speakers?

Hi everyone. This is the first of what I hope to be many posts on this board. I'm relatively new to the Stereophile world and recently got a job at Audio Visions South, a consumer electronics sales and integration company in Tampa, FL. I'm hoping to use this board to expand my knowledge concerning the world of high fidelity audio and possibly meet some people that share my interest and excitement regarding high-end audio gear.

Read Stereophile, Don't Buy Dynagroove

I've learned, unfortunately&#151even painfully&#151that not all vinyl sounds good. Crazy, I know. I would like to think that great performances make great recordings, and that's all there is to it. But it's not that simple. Even the greatest musical performance can be slashed to death by a bad recording, or by the foolish acts of the music industry. I learned the hard way. Is there any other way to learn?

No Sound only a small hum. Amps too old?

Howdy, I'm trying to get some speakers I've recently come to own. I tried out two different amps with the speakers. This is what I've working with,

2 Speakers: Carver - Amazing Loudspeaker Platinum IV

Amps: Kenwood - KA-4002 Solid State Amplifier
Lafayette Stereo 10B Solid State Amplifier

I hooked my video game audio RCA cables to the amplifiers. Both popped when I turn the audio source on, but neither produce any sound except a small buzz. I also tested this with headphones to the exact same result.
