Thiel CS3.7 loudspeaker Specifications

Thiel CS3.7 loudspeaker Specifications

One might argue that Thiel Audio's 3-series loudspeakers are the audio equivalents of BMW's 3-series sports cars: relatively affordable, but 100% about performance. Thiel has made bigger, more expensive loudspeakers than the 3s, as well as smaller, less expensive models—but the iconic Thiels are the 3s.

What is your pick for the most important audio development this year, be it a technology, trend, or component?

Category

It's been a tumultuous year for many around the world, but the audiophile keeps listening to music and searching for better sound. What is your pick for the most important audio development this year, be it a technology, trend, or component?

The Vote section is slipping

The questions are still good, but it used to be they'd flip it to a new one by Sunday afternoon. Then it was late night, now it's Monday, maybe. OK- maybe nothing earth shattering about it drifting, but it seemed a good time to be able to check it out Sunday night when I wasn't doing much anyway, and had time to browse the last week's responses.

As Lamont might say: "You guys need to shape up and get your shit wired tight!"

Harman Kardon 3485 will not play. Why??

Hii all,

My HK 3485 stoped sending the audio output. From one minute to the other, while looking like it's working, and no warning signs/red lights etc. is showing, it'll not fire the speakers.
Did anyone heard of a 'protect mode'? how to get out of that and back to playing music?
fyi - the 'mute' is not in action, all connections appear right and there was no surge etc.

thanks very much for your help.

Bass Traps? What are they and do they work?

Overheard a conversation the other day about someone who had gone to great lengths to determine the acoustic properties and problem areas in his room for his audio. He said he made some bass traps (and midrange I think) to avoid reflections cancelling our and/or amplifying certain frequencies... Claimed it worked wonders and he can now hear the entire frequecy range much better than before...

Sounds quite amazing. Does anyone know anything about this and whether this really is such a big winner. How easy is this to do?

Many thanks in advance for any advise, Floor

Synergistics Research Acoustic ART-real sonic improvements?

So, with all the gnashing of teeth and wringing of hands over whether the Furutech demagnetizer is snake oil or not, I've got a good one for y'all..

Introducing the Synergistics Research Acoustic ART (ART is an acronym for Analogue Room Treatment):

Real or more high-end hoo-ha? I've heard the professionally set-up main listening room of a well-respected high-end Bay Area dealer with and without this "system" , if you can call it that.

Cambridge against KEF

Forums

Yo

I'm puzzled

I have a nice set of KEF 104/2 reference (circa 1992) build
and a set of Cambridge Audio R50's (circa 1976) I dusted off and brought out of retirement when I sold my Maggies and Krell KSA 150 (for financial needs and the fact I have a wifey) So now I'm dusting off some old stuff.

I'm running this on "The Pre-amp" by Musical Fidelity
and two Meridian 205 Mono-blocs - Source is my older Roksan Caspian CD player.

Wot is making me scratch my head and shift my fleas about is that the older Cambridges seem to be beating up the KEFs.
