KEF iQ9

Forums

I see that Audio Advisor has the KEF iQ9 speakers marked down from $1300 to $800. They look like they might be the speakers I want to use with my 60" Sony TV system (my 'baby' stereo system), but I have a question.

I see from the KEF website that they have been superseded by the model iq90, and I am curious what the change to the new model involves. I see no difference in the ratings, specifications, or appearance.

Does anyone know specifically what the changes to the new model were?

New Emotiva CD Player looks great

Emotiva is getting ready to launch their new CD player in February. Check out these features:

1. 24 bit processor with 384 x oversampling. (Most 'high end' players are 24 bit with 192 x oversampling)

2. Frequency response is 5hz to...absolute daylight. from 20hz to 20khz, it's flat as a board.

3. 4 independent power supplies, to drive each section of the unit separately. (1. CD carriage/2. digital portion/3. analogue portion/4. display) This prevents the different sections from interacting and causing noise.

The importance of auditioning systems

Hi,

Recently I have been asking a lot of advice about putting together a system, I have read huge numbers of reviews etc etc, and almost came close to buying a system online.

Then, I decided to discipline myself and audition the system which, according to reviews and on paper matching was to sound fantastic.

I auditioned the B&W 685 speakers, a pro-ject Genie II turntable, and then 3 amps:
