Lord Judge

Warning: The Lord Chief Justice has stressed burglary of a home must always be treated as a 'serious criminal offence'

Burglars must expect stiff punishment for violating homes, says Britain's top judge.

The Lord Chief Justice yesterday urged the courts to impose harsh sentences on thieves who target vulnerable victims, steal irreplaceable sentimental items or terrify residents.

SVS SCS-01(M) Speaker System

Forums

Hello:

I'm in the process of putting together a HT system and want to get a decent set of speakers that I can use for both classical music ( I have a lot of CD: orchestral and piano as well as a lot of LPs ) and also videos and movies. My budget is about $2K for the speaker system. Will this be a good choice for such a system?

Thanks for the feedback on this,
Jhon

CD player shopping

Im looking for an entry level, but good cd player...
-Here is a list of a few players I found on online auctions.

NAD c520
Rotel RCD-971
California Audio Labs DX-1

The ROTEL is probably going to end up going out of my price range but the other two I would be comfortable purchasing.

The NAD has a 20bit DAC and some decent specs but I have read that the disc trays tend to fail on these units often.

Fomenting a discussion...would anybody be interested in discussing how a recording...

...that we all have in common sounds?

I was sitting and listening tonight thinking it might be cool to see how others might describe what they hear with the same recording. Comparing where in the imaging a certain sound happens, location of performers, etc...

Example: If we all have Kind of Blue, does the trumpeter sound spitty at the start?

Is Miles' trumpet centered, or slightly right?

Where is the piano?

Or, maybe for something like Dark Side of the Moon, what do you hear and where is it and where does it go?

Speakers pop when I turn off my preamp...

When I turn off my preamp my speakers pop. To stop this I have been turning off the speaker "a" section on my amp before I turn off the preamp.

-Right now I have the Amp plugged into one of the switched inputs on the back of my pre. Is this bad? should my amp be plugged directly into its own outlet?

Is there anything I can do to prevent the "pop" when I turn off my preamp?
