This is an excellent and informative article. I am a fan of Keith's writing. What we all must remember is that the data on a disc do not trace out the waveform at higher frequencies. The data points on the disk are the skeleton for the digital filter to flesh out. His point about the ringing pattern of the digital filters time domain response being directly responsible for replicating the higher frequency components of the waveform is one that many detractors of digital audio seem to be unaware.
Hello all. I auditioned this preamp this past weekend; The rest of the system was:
Paradigm Signatures S8
ARC 300.2 solid state amp
Cyrus CD Player....
Needless to say this was a sublime audio experience, as cliche as this may sound, I have never heard a system this good, ever!! This new ARC preamp is really something else. I'm not a big tube fan, but I think this time ARC got it right and hit it way out of the park, the sound was rich, enveloping, textured, without loosing transparency...Everything was just perfect, anybody else have heard this new preamp???
I'll be using Teac DV-50S and an Integrated Amplifier (I don't know yet). My room is around 320 square/feet. Which speaker it'll be best with this configuration. Thank you in advance for your help.
