Just purchased a set of these 2 way bookshelf speakers.
Very nice balanced sound, sweet highs and midrange. What you've read about the Focal Beryllium tweeter is true.
Adequate bass. Beautiful cabinetry and the single set of speaker posts are the nicest I've seen.
Highly recommended and a must audition if your are shopping in the $4K range.
I just had to share this.
While listening to WKCR-FM in NYC this afternoon, I had the most pleasant surprize an audiophile can have while listening to the radio these days: the sound of a record skipping!! And the best part was that it wasn't some obscure, long out of print, hard to find, never been issued on CD LP but rather a readily available on CD John Coltrane record the DJ was playing, bless his heart. Made my day.
Note:
I was wondering which was a better overall speakerm between the two, in both reviews Mr. Reina was highly impressed when he matched them up with the NHT, Epos, and Amphion speakers. I was in the process of purchasing the B&W speakers based on the recomendation, but would like to know how they compare the RS6 speakers, as I would have to order them as there is no dealer in my area for me to audtion them.
I like to check out different and new composers, conductors, performances etc. here: http://www.eclassical.com/
I know, I know mp3s are not audiophile approved but, these are non-DRM files encoded at decent quality 192 kbps.
Example from site:
Tchaikovsky - Piano Concerto in B flat minor, single file download (entire work)
Complete version of Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto in B flat minor, three movements. By many considered to be his fore-most work, one of the most popular piano concertos ever written.
