I am looking for a new set of bookshelf speakers under $300. After lurking here and some other forums, I have come up with the following candidates than seem to be highly recommended:
hello folks,
My name is john and I have just joined this forum.
I'm in Ohio, like to camp and flyfish and occassionally ride my harley.
When things get a little tense I fire up the stereo, break out a cold beer and relax....which leads me to my question.
I have a guest house out back that I use as a bachelor's pad. It is where I have my stereo ( i I have just gotten into this type of equipment....amps and pre-amps and whatnot..)
$16,500.00/pair
Peak Consult's InCognito-X is a floor-standing 2-way full range loudspeaker of incomparable ability. The legendary Peak Consult sound, the classic Peak Consult build quality and look. Nothing was spared in this design. It is the ultimate expression of a 2-way loudspeaker, presenting a powerfully musical performance.

This is an absolutley brilliant set! And its a "must have" for anyone with even a passing interest in the Beatles.
OK...their mash-ups. But some of the tracks do not seem to be futzed with much at all, other than to make 5.1 mixes out of them.
And the sonics are incredible. If this is a hint at what might be to come in terms of Apple remastering the Beatles catalog, all I can say is "Bring It On!".
I was looking forward to the reviews of the Stirling LS3/5a and Harbeth P3 in the December issue... but I guess they got delayed?
