Static/hiss through equalizer

Hello,
I recently picked up a used equalizer, and decided to hook my turntable up to it for a better sound. However, when I run the turntable through the equalizer (a Pioneer SG-9) to my receiver (Sansui G-8000), it produces some hiss when the volume and considerably more hum than when I had the turntable connected directly to the receiver. Any ideas on how I can correct this problem? Thanks!!

Sonos Zone Player - the ultimate audiophile source component?

Okay, okay, I confess. I gave this post a deliberately inflammatory title and equally deliberately filed it here under "Digital Sources" rather than "Computer Audio" on the basis that most of the folks posting over there already seem to be converts. Now I've said that I guess Stephen will probably move it!

Rating bands based on their cover art. Best line: "Boston has the advantage in sheer scale, what with it carrying an entire city, but this unusually large civilian population creates a set of problems the ELO fleet does not have to deal with. Plus Boston sucks."

Recent genetic analyses reveal that early man could not digest milk products. However, shortly after the development of agriculture, large populations in Europe and Africa developed the ability to produce lactase as adults—and milk, cheese, and yogurt became key components of their diet.

So I got a new pair of speakers.

So I just got a pair of Von Schweikert VR2s and man do they sound awesome. Rightnow im using NAD electronics (NAD C372 intergrated amp and NAD C 542 CD player) with Kimber Kable interconnects (Hero series) and Harmonic Tech speaker cables. Later down the road I may decide to change my electronics but for now im quite pleased. And to think...i was going to buy a pair of Definitive Technology BP7002...hahaha...anyone with any thoughts or suggestions? Gladly welcomed...
