Hi all. This is my first post on this forum and hope some of you can clarify a few things.

First, the context. I presently have a Musical Fidelity A3 amplifier, a A3 CD reader, Kestrel speakers from the now defunct Meadowlark Audio Co., and a Grado 325 headset. This system cost me around 5000$ seven years ago.

I am now thinking of uploading my CD collection (about 250) on my computer alongside my purchased music from iTunes. I have a Nano iPod.

Has anybody else dipped into the Chess reissues of the last year or two?

I never thought the label was well-served by prior reissues, excluding the Chess boxes. But the newer collections - like three volumes of Bo Diddley and the indescribably good Little Walter set (where has this music been all my life?)are first rate.

A bit hilarious of a choice, no?. Sorry to say, but the SME 20/12 is in a totally different league to the VPI SSM Ref - and, of course, in a totally different price band too.

If the award is for value for money, then perhaps VPI's own Classic or the TW should be taking that particular prize.

I was curious as to why no Maggies made it into the recommended components.

It seems to be widely agreed that the 1.6QR, for instance, is one of the great bargains in the audio industry.
