Alright, so here's my story, in a nutshell. Last year, I bought a Rega P1. I have really been enjoying it, running the sound through my parents Sony receiver and speaker system. However, I have left my house. I have decided to purchase my own, minimal, setup. Rather than splurge for an intergrated Amp or receiver, I decided to go with buy the Pre Amp and Amp separately.
I purchased a Rega mini phono amp and a Trends T-Amp a $145 and $135 respectively. Next, I purchased Polk Audio ATI A1 bookshelf Speakers.
Why can't the info be on the Wikipedia anyway, is this clever marketing? Is Ps high end?, I always think of these guys as like a glorified Panasonic, without the volume, and expertise of mass production. http://video.psaudio.com/articles/The%20Audiophile%20Wiki.pdf
I recently hooked the denon cd player with a volume control directly to my adcom 545 II power amp and noticed an improvement in the clarity of both highs and bass response. The sound stage dimished a touch with a slight loss of airyness. My question is can I increase the soundstage by going with a passive preamp and still keep the clarity and lack of harshness I am currently enjoying?
I have a Rega P1 which came with an Ortofon OM 5E installed. I just obtained an Ortofon OM 30 stylus. Are they compatible? I am under the impression that they are but was wondering if it would be worth it to purchase a "Super OM" cartridge.
