Scott McGowan launches Sprout HiFi after 17 years at PS Audio

Scott McGowan has left PS Audio to form Sprout HiFi, a new company built around a next-generation Sprout amplifier. The first Sprout HiFi product, a revamped version of the Sprout100, is projected for 2026, with email sign-ups open now.

Sprout is PS Audio’s compact integrated that built a following after its 2014 Kickstarter debut; McGowan says the new model will carry that idea forward for today’s listeners. The forthcoming Sprout is described as “smarter, more interactive and more versatile,” with the same small-footprint, living-room-friendly form factor. The company says the renewed model will anchor a broader Sprout HiFi lineup. Pricing will be announced closer to launch.

"The original Sprout and Sprout100 earned rave reviews for their combination of compact design, ease of use, and great sound," said Scott McGowan, founder and CEO of Sprout HiFi. "My new venture, Sprout HiFi, was founded to bring even better sound and value to a new generation of music lovers. The new model will be smarter, more versatile, more interactive, and more powerful."

"Leaving PS Audio is hard. I'm grateful beyond words for the years I've shared with you... I can't wait to share what comes next, and to keep you close along the way." —from McGowan’s email to Stereophile.

Sprout originated as a 2014 Kickstarter project; the updated Sprout100 followed and became the line’s best-known iteration. Sprout HiFi’s site is live now for updates.
