Grado Labs has introduced its latest flagship headphones, the Signature HP100 SE. This new model pays tribute to the pioneering HP1 headphones released by founder Joseph Grado in the early 1990s—a product some consider the genesis of the high-end headphone market.

In honor of what would have been Joseph Grado's 100th birthday, the HP100 SE blends the company's rich heritage with contemporary design. "Although Uncle Joe left us 10 years ago, he will always be a presence at Grado Labs," says John Grado, CEO and nephew of Joseph Grado. The HP100 SE marks a new direction for the company while staying true to its roots.
Newly Engineered Drivers
The HP100 SE features a redesigned 52mm dynamic driver with a paper composite cone and high-flux magnetic circuit made from rare earth alloys. Its copper-plated aluminum voice coil is said to improve dynamics and transient response, offering high-frequency clarity, smooth mids, and strong bass with low distortion. This design enhances spatial imaging and delivers a wide soundstage.
Modern Housing with Detachable Cables
The HP100 SE headphones are housed in machined aluminum with the product name engraved on the face and finished in space grey. The design echoes the original Signature HP series while adding a modern touch.
For the first time, Grado includes detachable cables, with a softer braided cable for improved flexibility and reduced weight. The cable, terminated with a 6.3mm plug, connects to the earcups via 4-pin mini XLR connectors. Grado plans to offer additional cables, including 4-pin XLR and 4.4mm balanced options, in various lengths for customization.
Redesigned Headband, Enhanced Comfort
Grado has redesigned the headband assembly, adding 50% more padding for comfort. A stainless steel band and adjustable height rods provide a secure, personalized fit to reduce listening fatigue. The aluminum alloy gimbals, engraved with the Grado Labs name, and stainless steel rods improve stability and prevent disassembly. The earcup rotation is limited to 105 degrees to minimize wear over time.
