At my request, "Life" by Ludivico Einaudi was streamed via Auralic's Aries G2. This room's rendition of that challenging piece was the highlight of my three days at AXPONA. It alone got both the piano and the various types of string instruments completely lifelike. I had the same piece played in rooms were the speakers ranged from Avantgarde/Esoteric to Sonus Faber Aida II/McIntosh (among others) and, while good, they couldn't hold a candle to the CH Precision/Rockport Cygnus combination.
I think my experience goes to show how challenging it is to review one component in an audio system. Who can say whether, for example, the speaker or the amplifier is the "weak link"? How good was the source material? All I can say is that what I heard in that room on the 16th floor was -- to me -- about as good as it can get.
