The “Recommended Components” issue is here!

Hitting newsstands on Monday and already in some subscribers’ hands, the October issue of Stereophile features the second installment of our 2014 “Recommended Components” feature. Completely updated since the last edition appeared in April, there are more than 500 components described and rated. (Because this is the largest-ever listing, several product categories had to be omitted from the print edition; these will be published on this website early next week.)

The focus in equipment reports this month is on affordable products, with Dynaudio’s superb-sounding Excite 14 loudspeaker and Naim’s delightful NAIT 5si integrated amplifier taking pride of place. But we haven’t forgotten cost-no object gear, with MartinLogan’s awesome 2X BalancedForce 212 subwoofer, Meridian’s bijou-esque Prime D/A headphone amplifier, Transfiguration’s extraordinary Proteus moving-coil cartridge, and Siltech’s unique two-chassis amplifier all getting the full review treatment.

But wait. There’s more! John Atkinson kicks off the issue by reflecting on the archive of audio component measurements he has created over the past quarter century of reviews; Herb Reichert rediscovers the joy of listening to vinyl with the Sentec variable-EQ preamp and the Miyajima Spirit Mono cartridge; John Marks powers his speakers with ATC’s P1 amplifier; Art Dudley fits the AMG 9W2 tonearm to his Linn; and Robert Baird celebrates Blue Note Records’ 75th anniversary.

Will the entire listing be available online or just the additional categories that didn't make it to the print version?
