Frankly, your Mission speakers are not very good; that, IMO, is most of your problem.
I recommend that you get the Monitor Audio Silver Series 1 speakers, which Audio Advisor is selling for $550 /pair (the original price was $850).
They should give you more bass, much more pleasing sound quality in all respects, and a complete transformation in what you system sounds like.
To get the "punch" you speak of will require a much more powerful amp with greater current reserves for musicial peaks.
But first get some good speakers.
What's wrong with my speakers? No one gives them cloase to a bad review
How about dynaudio Emit M10?
How would they sound together with a Rega Brio 2017 or PS Audio Sprout or sprout 100?
I agree about changing speakers. That would be the biggest bang for your buck.
Any speaker suggestions?
Dynaudio Emit M10?
Q Acoustcis concept 20 (more avagrage bass? Quantity)
Kef Q150?
Q Acoustics 3020i (Stil a sibilance top?)
I choose a pair of dynaudio Emit M10
I think you will be thrilled with the upgrade. Dynaudio makes serious speakers that excel at being great with all sorts of music genres. You might have to be patient with them, though. They take a very long time to open up. I suggest putting in a disc or using your tuner and let them play for a solid week or more. You can wire them up out of phase and keep them from bothering people while you're gone.
I agree. Good choice, especially since you want a “punchy” sound.
Thanks
What about a budget (used) amp upgrade for more control and dynamic headroom?
