Grinderman Bring Evil to the Best Buy Theater
I hope you’ve had an opportunity to listen to our October 2010 “Recording of the Month,” the evil and often hilarious Grinderman 2. On Sunday, I got to see the band play at the Best Buy Theater in Times Square. (The strangeness of seeing Grinderman perform at a place called “Best Buy Theater” is surpassed, albeit slightly, by the fact that the show took place on a Sunday, the Day of Our Lord.)

Grizzly Bear Is Ready, Able
Well, here’s another great video from Grizzly Bear. The band is like a bottomless cup of creativity. How do they do it? Don’t they have record reviews to write? Don’t they have issues to ship to press?

Halloween
For Halloween, I dressed up as myself: rigid and morose. My costume was a smash at all the parties. However, the Best Costume Award goes to SnowGhost">http://snowghostmusic.com/">SnowGhost Music's Greg McGrath. Greg dressed up as an MP3. He explained:
Happy Birthday to Lizzzeee
Today is Elizabeth's birthday. Lucky for us dudes, she spent the day working from home, so we didn't have to get into anything mushy like flowers, or cards, or hugs. Instead, we sat around playing poker, chomping on cigars, and taking slugs of Night Train and Thunderbird. That's what we do when Elizabeth's not around to keep us in line. It's a wonder the magazine gets made at all.
Happy Birthday, Kind of Blue
I now own it on vinyl, too, of course, but four years ago, John Atkinson presented me with the SACD/CD dual-disc. It quickly http://blog.stereophile.com/stephenmejias/101105kindofblue/ ">cured my headaches and has remained one of my very favorite albums. Listening to it at least once a month keeps my mind and body healthy.
