Woot! I've got a new reference rig in the house! After spending some time with the AURALIiC Taurus MKII (John Grandberg's InnerFidelity review here) and reading about their Vega DAC on both Audiostream and Stereophile, I gave them a call to see if I could arrange a long term loan to use this gear as my reference rig. I have had the chance to measure two samples of this headphone; both sets of measurements are displayed above. Both headphones measured quite similarly—two is a small sample, but it does seem evident that these measurements reflect the performance of the headphones well. Sound Quality
Maybe I've just drunk too much of the Kool-Aid, but I have a hard time considering headphone frequency response without having the Harman target response curve in mind. My current tendency is to think it's a bit bass heavy and a bit rolled-off in the top two treble octaves. None the less, I think it's generally a better window into narrowing things down than the traditional compensation curves.
