I measured the Cadence only in the mode in which it will most likely be used: the "Lo-Gain Amp/Hi-Load" setting suitable for use with typical MC cartridges. The voltage gain in this mode was 62.4dB, the output impedance a low 79 ohms. Despite the high gain, noise levels were very low. The unweighted signal/noise ratios ref. 1V output were 70dB (10Hz-500kHz) and 71.7dB (22Hz-22kHz), these improving to 78dB when A-weighted.

The ear is far more sensitive to peaks than to dips, and there was only one peak in the bass: +4dB at 63Hz. But the in-room response from 500Hz to 2kHz (beyond the 1.80kHz crossover) was +/-4dB, which I consider pretty good. A 3dB dip at 1.25kHz might have been related to the crossover a few hundred Hertz up. From 2kHz to 8kHz, the measured response was an excellent +/-1dB. Between 10kHz and 16kHz, the response was down 6dB, which doesn't contradict my subjective observations because the microphone in the cheap RadioShack meter doesn't offer flat response above 10kHz.
