Greetings!
So my first post is under-way...
I've been doing quite a lot of research and my selection for a stand-alone DAC has come down to just the above two DACs. I already have a MF X-10v3 tube output buffer stage and quite like the sound of it. Just want to improve the sound upstream. I'm currently using a Benhringer DEQ2496 as a DAC.
Anyone had experience with both DACs? Which has a more musical mid-range, nicer mid-bass, airy-highs (not a high priority) and stronger dynamics? I've read a lot of reviews but any fresh comments would help a lot. Thanks!
I recently upgraded my very out-of-date Philips Electronic 312 with a Pro-ject 1.2 I purchased on E-bay. My question is; Is this Philips worth anything or should I just through in the trash? The dust cover is all cracked up and the back panel is missing, but it plays fine.
Thank you for your advice.
I have some Mid to High-end equipment. Parasound Halo P3 Preamp/CAL Audio Labs CL-15 CD Player/2 Parasound HCA 1200 amps (Mono)/Apogee Centaur Major Speakers. I was thinking of adding a Graphic Equalizer. I guess my question is: Should I do this or am I going to mess up the sound of my system? I feel I am missing something or maybe my hearing is going the older I get.
I found that speaker positioning was the most single significant factor in room sound. Once proper location was established from the walls, TOE-IN had a huge effect on soundstage and clarity. For many years, I listened to my system with inadequate toe-in. Sam Tellig's recent speaker review clued me in, and once I aimed the speakers at me-WOW !!

Why is blind testing not such a hot button with:
- Drug testing in the pharmaceutical field?
- Wine testing?
- Perfume testing?
- Food testing?
Where lies the difference(s) between these (and many other) areas where blind testing is common and non-controversial and the audio field?
