I know some light dimmers can introduce noise. Don't recall if it's RF or if it's junk put back directly into the A/C. I'm helping my Dad run some inexpensive speaker cables within a wall for some simple in-wall Bostons in one room and small Paradigms in another. The majority of the speaker wires will run within walls where dimmers might be dimmed.
At any rate an electrician told us today we "need" shielded speaker cables to avoid noise. Seems to me the source and receiver we're using (also nearby) could just as well pick up noise, if there's any to be picked up.
I was going to purchase a DAC (for me) and a PS/3 for my kids(yeah right) and I was wondering if the PS/3 would make a better transport than my old Marantz CD-67se player. I know that the PS/3 was just announced and I have not found specs on the transport. I was hoping someone else might have some info. I only have money to by the DAC and PS/3.
Thanks,
Gord
Just wanted to share my experience with using the MusicGiants service with my follow forum members.
MusicGiants is an online music service offering high quality downloads in Windows Media Lossless Audio format with digital rights management, or wma with DRM for short, for a reasonable price (about $1.29 per song). The service is about six month old. The client software download is free but the initial membership fee is $50 which is credited to one's account and goes to pay for future downloads.
