I know some light dimmers can introduce noise. Don't recall if it's RF or if it's junk put back directly into the A/C. I'm helping my Dad run some inexpensive speaker cables within a wall for some simple in-wall Bostons in one room and small Paradigms in another. The majority of the speaker wires will run within walls where dimmers might be dimmed.
At any rate an electrician told us today we "need" shielded speaker cables to avoid noise. Seems to me the source and receiver we're using (also nearby) could just as well pick up noise, if there's any to be picked up.
This isn't an audiophile installation by any means, seeking the blackest background, but obvious noise is a concern.
Is this likely to be a problem? I'm aware of twisted cables but not shielded ones. What was it? Kimber PBJ? But even that is probably out of budget. Oh, and we have like 2 days to nail this down before the walls go up.
The new lights are halogen PAR30 or similar in new fixtures from a pro (retail) lighting shop, and dimmers decent quality Lutron qualified for halogens picked to match the rest of the house.
